Where to go and what to see:

Revesby is on the edge of the mostly unknown Lincolnshire Wolds where there are many fine walks and historical sites

The remains of Revesby Abbey, a remote 12th Century Cistercian abbey that fell into disrepair after Henry VIII's dissolution,  is just visible from the Drovers' Green Lane that was once used for taking cattle, sheep and geese to various markets.

Bolingbroke Castle circa 1220-30 in Old Bolingbroke then a major village in this area known for its clayware.

Tattershall Castle circa 1434 an impressive brick castle; is a 'must' visit.

Local market towns worth visiting are Horncastle (Thursday), Spilsby (Monday), Boston (Wednesday), Louth (Tuesday), Alford (Friday).

For Bird Watchers the area is well known for its passing migrant populations and the abundant wildfowl. There are several hides and spotting spots close by as well as the well known Gibraltar Point situated on the coastal migrant path.

RAF Coningsby a Front Line Response Station has Euro fighters and Tornados. It id also the home of the Battle of Britain Flight with frequent almost weekly showings of the only Second World war Lancaster still airworthy as well as both Spitfire and Hurricane. If not airborne they can be seen by tour at the airfield. Not far away at East Kirkby there is another Hangered Lancaster displayed and part of a disused airfield with conning tower supposedly with a ghostly presence!

There are many productive commercial trout and coarse fishing lakes in this area as well as excellent fishing on the Rivers Witham, Bain, Steeping and of course there's the  50+ miles of major drains full of bream, roach, perch, pike etc.

Golf clubs abound with both nine hole and eighteen hole courses. For the golf connoisseur the home of English Golf Union is at Woodhall Spa. Woodhall Spa Golf Course is renown as one of the best in England and in the top 20 worldwide.  For lesser or poorer golf mortals there's a nine hole course at  Kirton Holme   or  eighteen holes at South Kyme. Boston has two main clubs Boston GC and Boston West GC
